The growth in ways to which consume information and target consumers has generated a huge shift in marketing, digital media and advertising and a wealth of new, innovative career paths for graduates. Come and meet our panel who will discuss their job roles and showcase the wide and varied opportunities in this sector. After initial presentations from Whitespace, IPA, Attacat, AG Barr and a freelance brand consultant, there’ll be the opportunity to question the panel.


Phillip Lockwood-Holmes, co-owner & managing partner, Whitespace. Whitespace is an Edinburgh based 85 strong creative agency working with clients across Scotland and the UK. Phillip has developed results-focussed digital strategies for over 100 clients across the Public Sector, Financial Services and Food & Drink over the last 10 years. Recent work includes defining the global digital customer experience for accountancy body ACCA, international content marketing for VisitScotland and and the Republic of You digital campaign for Oxfam.

Brian Coane, Chairman, IPA for Scotland. The IPA for Scotland is widely recognised as the world’s most influential professional body for practitioners in advertising, marketing and media communications. Brian is also Partner at The Leith Agency where he leads some of the agency’s largest integrated accounts covering projects from brand development through to multi-media campaigns. He led the agency team that created the campaigns for Glasgow 2014 selling over 1 million tickets and making them the best Commonwealth Games ever. He has over 10 years experience of working on social marketing with a focus on health campaigns including the ground-breaking campaign to introduce the ban on smoking in public places in Scotland.

Jenny Mungall, consultant. Jenny has over 10 years experience working in marketing, primarily in the events & entertainment sector. After various agency roles, most recently Material_UK’s Head of Entertainment working with clients like Tennent’s Lager on T in the Park, she’s now consulting to the Edinburgh International Festival – helping to develop innovative brand partnerships, and with Penguin Random House developing their ‘Penguin Live’ brand. She’ll talk briefly about how roles in marketing and advertising agencies can unlock opportunities in sectors which you’re passionate about as brands are more and more keen to connect with their audiences through shared experiences.

Tim Barlow, managing director, Attacat (the Edinburgh based digital marketing agency). Attacat has a long tradition of employing and training graduates into search engine marketing careers. Tim founded Attacat in 2003 and was one of the very first Qualified Google Advertising Professionals in the world. Attacat’s growth potential has recently been recognised by Google after the search giant chose the internet marketing agency to join its new flagship business coaching program for agencies. The agency is the only Scottish company on the list of 20 high growth potential businesses hand picked by Google from its 30,000 UK based Google partners.
